Homecoming Rules and Regulations Revised and Approved by the Advisory Council 5/29/24
Eligibility for girls:
Must be a senior girl
Must have participated in a spirit group for 4 years, or served as a football trainer/manager for 4 years
If a girl participates in the same, fall varsity sport (current sports offered are volleyball/cross country/swimming) all 4 years, then they are only required to be in a spirit group in 9th and 10th grade.
Must have been a member of any club, activity, sport, class office, or manager for three years
Must have been a student at OC at the beginning of their 10th grade year
Must owe no money to school 30 days prior to voting
Transfer students must meet the same requirements above from their previous school
The School Principal reserves the right to deny court membership to any girl who exhibits conduct unbecoming of an OC student
Number of girls selected to the court:
The number of girls on court will be equal to the number of eligible senior football players
The minimum number of girls on court will always be eight
If there are three or less girls that do not make the court, all will be put on the court
Selection process:
The senior class will vote on the Homecoming Court three weeks before Homecoming Week
The votes will be counted by the Homecoming Committee and Administration
The ballot will include the eligible girls’ names and accomplishments
The senior football players will draw at random to determine who they escort
A separate vote will occur on the day of coronation to determine the queen, first maid, and second maid
In the event of a tie, the administration will vote to break the tie
Escorts:
Senior football must have been of the football team for three years
They must have attended OC at the beginning of their 10th grade year
If more escorts are needed than the number of senior football players, eligible boys will escort more than one girl
Must owe no money to school 30 days prior to voting
The School Principal reserves the right to deny court membership to any boy who exhibits conduct unbecoming of an OC student
Parade Marshall:
Selected by the principal with recommendations from the faculty
Homecoming Activities:
Alumni department will coordinate Homecoming activities
Powder Puff game and Bonfire both have mandatory attendance by court members
Parade runs from South City Park to OC
Court presentation and coronation will follow the parade in the school gymnasium
Homecoming Mass is on game day
Pep Rally on game day
Court will be presented at halftime of the game- escorted by their fathers
The homecoming dance will take place on Saturday night
Parade and Coronation (Formals and suits will be checked by Homecoming Committee and Administration one week prior to the event)
Girls- Formal gowns, slit should be no higher than 3 inches above the knee; neckline should not show cleavage; back should go no lower than the natural bra line
Boys- Dark dress slacks; long sleeve button down shirt, tie, and letterman jackets
Mass- School Uniform/Team Shirts with skirts or pants
Game- Girls should wear suits or a suited look; skirts/dresses should be no shorter than three inches above the knee; fit should not be tight
